Educational camps in our school.

Educational camps in our school. Which camp do you prefer-summer or winter? Why? Tell about your favorite activity during the camps.

In my school, we have educational camps both in the summer and winter. There are many fun activities we do during camp. For example, in the winter, we go sledding on snowy mountains and spend a couple nights in cabins, which strengthens our bond as a class. In the summer, we stay at the school and resolve any issues we might have in our grades, staying in the school and doing many fun things. One of the things we did was make organic cheese with our own hands, recording a video presentation in the process. These camps are both very educational and I love that our school does them. If I were to choose, I’d pick winter camp, firstly because winter is my favorite season and I love how magical the world looks. Furthermore, my birthday is in the winter, which is always a fun thing to look forward to.

S.O.S. – Save our space

Environment refers to the natural surroundings and conditions in which we live. Unfortunately, this Environment has come under serious threat. This threat is almost entirely due to human activities. These human activities have certainly caused serious damage to the Environment. Most noteworthy, this damage risks the survival of living things on Earth. Therefore, there is an urgent need to save the Environment.

First of all, planting trees should be given massive attention. Above all, a tree is the source of oxygen. Unfortunately, due to construction, many trees have been cut down. This certainly reduces the amount of oxygen in the environment. Growing more trees means more oxygen. Hence, growing more trees would mean better life quality.

Similarly, people must give attention to forest conservation. Forests are vital for the Environment. However, deforestation certainly reduces the area of forests around the World. The government must launch programs to conserve the forests. The government must make harming forests a criminal offense.

Do we live to work or work to live?

The question of whether we live to work or work to live has been debated for a long time. Some people think work is the most important thing in life and makes us happy, while others think work is just a way to make money and we should spend more time doing things we enjoy. The truth is that work is important for providing for ourselves and our families, but there are also many other things that can make us happy. The answer to this question depends on the individual, and it’s important to find a balance between work and other aspects of our lives to live a fulfilling and satisfying existence.

Jamie Oliver is a genius in the world of food and one of Britain’s most famous cooks. He has encouraged people to spend more time in the kitchen and enjoy it. His programmes are shown in over 100 countries including the USA, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Japan and Iceland. They were translated into over 30 languages. Jamie Oliver’s cookery books are bestsellers not only in the UK but across the world.

Jamie Oliver was born in 1975 in England. From an early age he got interested in food. His parents had a pub where he often helped them in the kitchen. He actually began working there at the age of eight. Jamie cut vegetables like any other ordinary worker in the pub.

Jamie Oliver left school at 16 without any official certificate. He went to Westminster College to study economics and after that travelled to France. Jamie knew that in France cooking was a kind of art. And he wanted to master that art. It was no doubt the best place to study if he wished to become a professional chef.

After returning from France, Jamie worked in a number of British restaurants. At that time there was a programme on the telly about the cafe where Jamie worked. TV producers were impressed by the young chef. The next day Jamie received calls from five different TV companies wishing to work with him. He soon became the best-liked celebrity chef on television and his programme was a real revolution in cooking shows. Thanks to an informal and friendly manner Jamie Oliver won crowds of fans around the world.

However, Jamie devotes his time not only to cooking. He’s a family man, with a wife and four children. He also works on a number of projects. For example, Jamie Oliver created the “Fifteen Foundation”. Each year, fifteen young people are trained and taught to work in the restaurant business. It’s interesting that they are not common people. They are from unhappy families, they are unemployed. Some of them were in prison or took drugs. In this way Jamie Oliver tries to help them start a new life.

Another project by Jamie Oliver was connected with school dinners and lunches. He wanted school children to begin eating healthy food instead of junk food. The British government supported the project. It spent extra 280 million pounds to improve school meals. Part of the money was spent on training cooks and buying modern equipment for schools.

It’s really hard to name all the TV programmes, shows, projects that Jamie Oliver had and is still having. He’s so creative and imaginative, that there’s no end to new ideas and projects. Except television, Jamie Oliver is a writer. His every book immediately becomes a bestseller. It’s interesting that he became the best-selling author in the country after J. K. Exploring Ads – The History of Converse

Launched in 1908 by Marquis Mills as ‘Converse Rubber Shoe Company’, the company specialized in rubber-soled footwear (galoshes) for men, women and children. The company initially produced winterized rubber-soled shoes for men, women, and children. In 1918, the Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced. Then in 1923, a basketball player named Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet. Converse gave him a job: he worked as a salesman and ambassador, promoting the shoes around the U.S., and in 1932 Taylor’s signature was added to the All-Star patch on the classic, high-topped sneakers. He continued this work until shortly before his death in 1969. Converse also customized shoes for the New York Renaissance (the “Rens”), the first all–African American professional basketball team. In 1962, center Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia Warriors scored 100 points in an NBA game while wearing a pair of Chucks, taking a 169–147 victory over the New York Knicks in Hershey, Pennsylvania on March 2.

Converse has used several slogans over the years, but their most famous one is probably “The Chuck Taylor All Star: It’s not a shoe, it’s an icon.” This slogan highlights the enduring popularity and cultural significance of the Chuck Taylor All Star, which is one of Converse’s most iconic shoe models. Converse has also used other slogans, such as “Shoes are boring. Wear sneakers” and “Shoes keep it clean, sneakers get dirty.”

Nike

Read the text, write down all the unknown words and answer the questions/ true, false, not given

Take a look around. How many people are wearing Nike right now? There is at least one, trust me. Nike is the number one manufacturer of footwear and clothes, and it has become a world-famous brand on the same level as Coca Cola, McDonald’s, and Apple.

Nike was originally known as Blue Ribbon Shoes. It was founded in 1964 by the runner Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman. They established the company to import cheap Japanese running shoes for sale in the U.S. At the very beginning they had no room or shop, so Philip Knight sold the shoes out of the back of his car. Meanwhile, Bill Bowerman worked on improvements to the footwear. He tore the shoes apart to see how he could make them lighter and better.

In 1967 a third person joined Blue Ribbon Shoes. It was Jeff Johnson. A runner himself, Johnson became the first full-time employee of Blue Ribbon Shoes. His contribution to the company is so great that it’s hard to estimate. Johnson created the first product brochures, print adverts and marketing materials, and even took the photographs for the company’s catalogues. He established a mail-order system and opened the first company shop.

At about the same time the company became ready to take a big move forward. They no longer wanted to be distributors but wished to start designing and manufacturing their own brand of athletic shoes. Here again, Johnson made an enormous contribution to the company. One night, he dreamed of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, and suggested the name to his bosses.

Yet, another thing was missing  — a memorable logo. One was created by a graphic design student Carolyn Davidson. She had become acquainted with Philip Knight who asked her for her design ideas and Carolyn agreed to do some freelance work for his company. Soon she presented a number of designs to Philip Knight and the other company managers, and they finally selected the mark which today is the Swoosh. That has been the Nike logo ever since then. Amazingly, Carolyn asked just $35 for her work.

In 1988 Nike started an advertising campaign with its world-famous slogan “Just Do It”. The slogan was born during a Nike meeting with the advertising agency. The slogan has become so closely associated with Nike that as soon as most people hear or see those three words, they remember Nike, even if the company name is not mentioned. Today, the words «Just Do It» and the Nike “swoosh” brandmark is all that is needed to identify something as a Nike product.

Isn’t it amazing how a small symbol we call a logo can make a company into a huge success

The internet in my life.

Ever since the revolutionary invention of the internet in 1983, it has become a huge part in our lives and helped humanity solve issues previously which were previously thought impossible. This has resulted in the internet becoming integrated into everything, and rarely will you meet someone without a smart device or two. But just how useful is it, and what is the price to pay for such a big step in humanity’s future?

Not only is access to the internet helpful for individuals’ economic well-being, but it is also essential for growing our digital economy. Strengthening communities and social ties. The internet helps people organize, collaborate, and share information with large numbers of people. In Internet chat, people view and respond to messages from one another instantaneously, much like a telephone conversation. Although some chat software includes audio and/or video aspects, most chat and instant messaging programs are text-based. Also, we can now learn and teach more effectively due to the internet. The internet offers a variety of learning and teaching resources to its consumers, including well-researched subject-related content, video lectures, and online instruction. The online videos, lectures, and notes have made the learning process unique.

The main disadvantage of the internet is that it wastes time. Most internet users waste a lot of time on social networking sites while doing nothing productive. Users become addicted to these online services because of this activity. And this diverts users from other productive pursuits in their lives. The internet has a significant impact on human privacy and personal data. Many websites on the internet are insecure. Certain uneducated internet users use those websites, and their personal information is hacked in unethical ways. It can also have broader implications for personal issues. Although the internet is regarded as the primary source of information, some websites include inaccurate and worthless information. Sometimes, Users can have trouble distinguishing between what is correct and what is incorrect material.

In my life, the internet is a very useful tool that helps me communicate and meet new people, learn new things, and better myself as a person.
